Survey:
A short mission which (IMHO) is quite easy - as long as you do not make the obvious mistakes (see spoilers). One actually does not need own troops, it can be done alone in the Stryker.
Specialties:
1 - short
Bug(s)?!
1 - I report heavy casualties via radio, but actually I lost not one single soul
I know, its for the story's sake, but it kills the fun ... or is there any other way to end the mission?!
**** SPOILER ****
If you want to play/experience on your own, do not read further!!
**** SPOILER ****
Okay, there is a parked car on the road. Mhmmmm .. shall I go there?
NO! Of course one uses brain to flank right. If you shoot some early shots with the strykers M203 all enemies on Alcatraz will take cover, giving you plenty of time to send your men to the foot of the hill. In the meanwhile the Stryker with the M203 can be used to clear the fortification (left flank). Keep the ruins uphill supressed ... some shots from time to time will be enough...
Once the fortification is cleared one can drive uphill in the Stryker, switching between gunner and driver. Take your time around Alcatraz, once all enemies are killed around the plateau, drive to the tower and climb the stairs. Clear the top, and from there one can engage remaining enemies which are mostly still taking cover in their bunkers/ruins.
Strange, the AT gunners hidden in the ruins should pick off your Strykers from quite a distance. Looks like you flanked very far to the right...
That leaves the player alone and on foot and the MGs and soldiers around the ruins should make it quite harder than the walk in the park you described.
